The road up near San Cristobal flows over a series of ridges. It climbs steeply up then descends quickly down. There is a house in Arroyo Hondo where we bought homemade absinthe from a dead man, although I didn’t believe he was dead at the time. And when the bottle was empty that evening and we had all lain down to sleep, I felt a sadness I couldn’t explain.
And when the dead man from Arroyo Hondo visits me in my dream, he is holding aloft a green liquid that I taste without it touching my lips. And he asks me of his wife and child, but I have no answer for him. I never knew his wife, nor his child, nor his name. No, I can’t even picture his face.
There is a road heading East out of Questa where we once bought cocaine from a stranger. Driving into the mountains I sincerely believed that I couldn’t be harmed. There is a house just east of Cerrillos that I once almost burned to ground. I didn't feel so Invincible then. Now, when I drive through Arroyo Hondo I am aware that one day I will die. I am keenly aware of the passing of time.
And when the dead man from Arroyo hondo visits me in my dream, he is holding aloft a green liquid that I taste without it touching my lips. and he he asks me of his wife and child, but i have no answer for him. I never knew his wife, nor his child, nor his name. No, I can’t even picture his face.

I want to say to you
things unsayable
I want to be for you
things impossible
I want to give to you
things unownable
I want to be with you
for time immeasurable
You have done for me
things undoable
You have said to me
things unhearable
You have come to me
when I most needed you
You have reached to me
through walls impassible
We bridge impossible distances
We are not the some of our things
You and and I are together in the emptiness
You and I
